Tibetan rights groups have condemned the secret cremation of Tulku Hungkar Dorje in Vietnam on April 20 at 1 a.m., calling it a grave act of erasure. The cremation, carried out under heavy Chinese and Vietnamese security without family presence or consent, has fueled suspicion of a cover-up. Phones of monks were confiscated, and access to the body was denied. According to Tibet Action Institute and other groups, this forced cremation appears aimed at destroying evidence of possible foul play in Rinpoche’s custody death. Activists are demanding a transparent international investigation.
