Australia Leads Global Push with Landmark Parliamentary Motion on Tibet

Marking the 67th anniversary of the 1959 uprising, Australia’s Parliament passed a historic cross-party motion condemning human rights abuses in Tibet. Introduced by Senator Deborah O’Neill, the resolution makes Australia the first nation in the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China to pursue coordinated legislative action on the issue. The motion extends 90th birthday wishes to the Dalai Lama and strongly opposes Chinese interference in his reincarnation process.
