China Replaces Demolished Tibetan Buddha Statue With Horse Racing Track

Chinese authorities have built a sprawling horse racing track on the former site of a 99-foot Buddha statue in Drago, Tibet. According to the Tibet Times, the sacred statue was demolished in 2021 alongside a local Buddhist school. Two mysterious large buildings now stand on the school's ruins. Officials also forced monks at nearby Chanang Monastery to destroy a 46-foot Guru Rinpoche statue. Following these demolitions, police arrested over a dozen locals, including monks, for allegedly leaking information abroad. The detainees were sent to political re-education centers, and their current whereabouts and safety remain completely unknown.
