Dalai Lama Congratulates India’s New Vice President

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has written to C.P. Radhakrishnan to congratulate him on being elected Vice President of India. In his message, His Holiness expressed gratitude for India’s warm hospitality since his arrival in 1959 and described himself as a “son of India,” noting that his way of thinking was shaped by ancient Indian Buddhist traditions. He praised India’s enduring values of compassion and nonviolence, as well as its religious harmony, calling them examples for the world. His Holiness wished the Vice President-elect success in serving the aspirations of the Indian people.
